Awakening the Archetype: How the Prilep Rocks Reminded Me of the True Power of the Cross

Whilst in the vicinity of Markovi Kuli, just a few weeks after my first expedition, I felt a sudden, magnetic impulse. I had not planned on ascending to the summit again that day. However, a deep, intuitive thought arose that this would be the perfect opportunity to bid farewell to the energy of the Prilep mountains and their giant rock formations, whose raw stability and immense power resonate so strongly within me.

Once at the peak, I felt a spontaneous urge to take a selfie with the cross standing prominent on the summit. In that split second, rising above any religious structures, I connected with the primal, pure significance of this emblem. It was a tangible sensation of returning to its positive, source vibration – entirely free from the layers of dogma imposed over the centuries.

The primal, pre-Christian symbolism of the cross has nothing to do with suffering, guilt or death. Long before this emblem was turned into an instrument of execution or a religious icon, it represented a universal, cosmic code – one of humanity's oldest archetypes, carrying a pure and harmonious energy:

• The Axis of the World (Axis Mundi) and Point Zero: The vertical beam of the cross represents the cosmic, active vector (energy descending from Above, the spiritual impulse), while the horizontal beam represents the earthly, material vector (our physical, incarnational reality). The point where they intersect right at the centre is the mystical "Point Zero" – a space of perfect equilibrium where time meets eternity, and man unites spirit with matter.
• The Solar Geometer and Cycles of Nature: The four arms of the primal cross marked the four cardinal directions of the world (North, South, East, West) and the four seasons. When enclosed within a circle, it was the purest symbol of the sun, fire and life-giving energy, representing the eternal triumph of light over darkness.
• The Four Elements: For the ancients, the cross was a map of the structure of the universe. Its four arms represented the four primordial elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Their intersection symbolised the creation of stable matter and the cosmic order emerging from chaos.
